Abdul Razak Dawood is the Founder and former Chairman of Descon, which is involved in Engineering, Chemicals and Power businesses.

He started his career as Managing Director of Lawrencepur Woolen Mills, before assuming responsibility of Managing Director at Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited. In 1977, he started Descon Engineering Limited Company and led the Descon businesses till 2018.

He is one of the founders of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and currently serves as its Pro-Chancellor. He has also served the Lahore Chapter of Management Association of Pakistan as Chairman. He was a former trustee for the first ten years of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hospital.

He is also the Founder of the Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood Foundation and Descon Technical Institute, and currently leads both these development initiatives, focusing on empowering the youth of Pakistan.
